It has been a while since I have posted , and there are some good things to share!
Firstly I completed a very helpful on line training from Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield:
Becoming a Mindfulness Meditation Teacher. This gave me some very helpful pointers on which to base my meditation classes. I am on the wait list for their two year Mindfulness Teacher training course, but there won't be another one starting until 2025.
I am delighted that I have been invited to offer the meditation classes every two weeks now at Funketown Wellness Center in Brentwood Bay. I will be alternating between the two hour class, and a new one hour class, and hopefully experimenting with different days and time slots.
I am currently completing the Udemy certificated online Meditation Teacher Training Course. Whilst much of this has not been new (so far) it has been worthwhile consolidating my own learning and experience. There have been some good breathing exercises that I can incorporate into my own classes.
Finally, I am so pleased I am working again with Mental Health Recovery Partners (MHRP). I was able to link MHRP and Funketown together , and I will be offering weekly Family Support for families who have a member with mental health challenges. I am passionate about offering this service, I am convinced there are many families in the central and north part of the Saanich Peninsula who would benefit.
This brings together beautifully my own lived experience, my family member experience, and my professional knowledge and experience. I have sat in on a number of family meetings now at MHRP in Victoria and found them to be moving but also so practical and helpful.
It looks like it will be a busy Fall season, but one I am really looking forward to!
